Why Should One Take Bath Daily?
Bath is taken for the cleansing of body. From religious as well as scientific points of view, bath has an important place in daily routine of a person. Bath is a customary activity in all the religious and social functions of Hindus. Daily life of a Hindu usually begins with bath. Some people conclude their day with bath also. A child is first of all given a bath soon after his birth. On the other hand, a dead body is also given a ritual bath. Importance associated with holy places of pilgrimage like Haridwar, Kashi, Prayag, Kurukshetra, Ujjain, Nasik, Pushkar and many others is mainly due to the bath if not entirely. In the first Mahakumbh of the millenium, which is currently on in Allahabad, crores of people have taken a dip at the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers so far. It is said that taking a bath at holy place of pilgrimage helps a person attain various religious objectives including salvation.
Scientifically too, bath has profound benefits. Our skill contains crores of minute pores through which toxic substances pass out in the form of sweat and wax. This activity is highly important to maintain the thermal balance of a human body. Sweat keeps on evaporating there by taking a lot of heat with it. But the various other substances like grime keep on accumulating right on the skin. It is necessary to constantly remove that grime otherwise, it would lead to clogging of the sweat pores. Once, the pores are closed, internal toxic substances cannot come out and would go on accumulating in the body causing serious disturbances in bodily activities. Stenching body is the first indication that something is wrong with a person. With daily bath, this grime can be washed away and good health be maintained.
It is also a well known fact that our body is composed of five basic elements- earth, water, air, fire and ether. Proper balance of all these elements within the body is extremely necessary for life. Each of these elements keeps on decaying in our body. Hence, their constant replenishment is also necessary. The food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe are the means to replenish these five basic elements in our body. When the level of water decreases within the body, it begins to feel uneasy. Burning sensation in and around the stomach indicates that the body immediately needs replenishment of water. Drinking of water quenches this feeling. But out skin also keeps on losing water and bath is the only way to replenish it. Thus with bath, body receives extreme satisfaction and becomes active. Mind also feels pleasant and lethargy is destroyed.

7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil.
As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is20very fit.

Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

The Special Report examines the science and latest findings on 10 approaches that can make a real difference in preventing cancer.
Here are some highlights from the list:
1. Don't smoke: Quitting smoking reduces the risk of lung and other cancers, regardless of the number of years of smoking.
2. Eat fruits and vegetables: The American Cancer Society recommends eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily because they are loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other substances that lower the risk of cancer.
3. Limit fat in the diet: Current guidelines recommend keeping fat intake between 20 and 30 percent of total daily calories, with most fats coming from sources of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, such as fish, nuts and vegetable oils.
4. Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight or obese can increase the risk of postmenopausal breast cancer as well as cancers of the colon, endometrium, esophagus and kidney. There's evidence that obesity increases the risk of cancers of the prostate, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, ovary and cervix.
5. Be physically active: From 45 to 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity a day, on most days of the week, is considered optimal to reduce the risk of breast and colorectal cancers.
6. Curb alcohol consumption: Women should limit themselves to no more than one alcoholic beverage a day. Men should have no more than two.
7. Limit exposure to radiation: Ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which comes from the sun, sunlamps or commercial tanning beds, is the primary cause of skin cancer, the most common of all cancers.
8. Protect against infection: Infections caused by viruses are recognized as risk factors for several types of cancer.
9. Consider chemoprevention: Chemoprevention is the use of natural or synthetic compounds to reduce the risk of cancer or its recurrence. Tamoxifen, prescribed to prevent breast cancer in high-risk women, is the best known chemoprevention agent.
10. Get recommended screening exams: Pap tests, mammograms, colonoscopies and other routine screenings cannot prevent cancer. But screenings can help find cancers early, when treatment is most likely to be successful.

Eye Health
Your eyes are one of nature’s most wonderful gifts to you because without them, it would be impossible for you to fully enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. The eye is indeed a very amazing and complicated organ, composed of a perfect system that includes the pupil, retina, cornea, iris, lens, and optic nerve. All these parts belong to forty individual subsystems, and together, they capture and interpret more than one million pulse signals per millisecond, something that even supercomputers cannot perform without flaw!
However, just like other organs in the body, the eye can be subject to stress and injury, and can lose its full potential when not properly taken care of. If you have a pair of beautiful eyes today, you have to do your best to maintain them even as you age.
1. Load Up With Eye-Healthy Foods
Most eye conditions are a result of poor nutrition, so if you want to maintain and enhance your vision, you have to add more eye-healthy food to your diet. Many of the foods that are considered beneficial for the eyes contain vitamins and nutrients that do not only improve your vision but also delay the onset of degenerative eye diseases. Green, leafy vegetables such as green cabbage and spinach, for instance, contain quercetin and rutin, two substances that protect the eye from ultraviolet radiation and reduce the leakage from small blood vessels in your retina. Zinc found in yogurt, beans, whole grains, and some meats also improve eye health by increasing the production of melanin, which is a protective eye pigment. Load with omega-3- and vitamin A-, and vitamin E-rich foods as well, because they play a very important role in fighting off free radicals and in the development of the retina.
2. Protect Your Eyes from the Sun
The eyes are a very sensitive organ, and when directly exposed to the sun, can develop certain diseases that can eventually lead to blindness. Ultraviolet rays that come from the sun can create cumulative damage, which means the longer your expose your eyes to the sun, the greater your chances of acquiring macular degeneration when you get old. Protect your eyes by wearing eyewear designed to ward off harmful UV rays. Invest in a quality pair of sunglasses that could block at least 99 percent of UVA and UVB radiation. In the same manner, a large umbrella or hat should be able to protect your eyes by blocking out up to 50 percent of UV radiation so make sure you bring one every time you leave the house.

Many eye conditions are a result of spending too much time in front of the computer or the television. When working with computers, make sure you take 5 minutes break for every thirty minutes to an hour of work. Staring in front of the monitor for too long can cause eye strain and tension, which may lead to eye problems in the long run. As much as possible, limit your television watching to two hours.
4. Prevent Eye Hazards
If your job involves working in areas that pose eye hazards, make sure that you wear protective goggles all the time. Doing so will reduce your risk of eye injury due to accidents by up to 90 percent. Tiny wood or metal debris can cause abrasion to your cornea, so as much as possible, stay away from areas that pose eye hazards if you’re not wearing any eye protection. You can also eliminate the possibility of any eye injury by checking your equipments before starting your work. Glass lens are preferable when you’re choosing safety eyewear because they are less likely to get scratched and you can even have one designed for your eye corrective prescription.
5. Walk Your Way to Healthy Eyes
Finally, don’t forget to perform your daily exercises. Scientists have found out that light to moderate exercises such as brisk walking can reduce a person’s risk for glaucoma by a large percentage. When glaucoma patients were asked to incorporate at least fifteen minutes of walking exercises to their daily activities, a significant improvement in their condition was found to a point that some of them even stopped taking their medications.

It is a trait that will help us create greater results for ourselves and when leading others. Any trait with this much benefit is one worth developing. And yes, you can develop and strengthen your confidence.
Consider these five steps as the building blocks for greater confidence in any part of your life.
1. Remind yourself of past successes. Confidence builds on past success. Since you have had success before, you can (and will) have it again. We strengthen our confidence in any activity when we review or remind ourselves of past successes. If you are trying to build confidence in a new area, past success can still help us strengthen our confidence. For example, if you have had success in doing something new in the past, review those experiences when trying something else new – even if it is in an entirely different part of your life.
2. Read and listen to positive materials. Fill your mind with positive and affirming words, ideas and stories. Read things that enhances your skills or knowledge in the area in which you want to build your confidence. Read materials that are generally uplifting and affirming, and read biographies of successful people. You will find that many of them had troubles in life, came from tough situations and still succeeded. If you have ever thought, “Well, if they can do, I could too.” Then you realize that we can build our confidence by reading about others stories. Reading and listening to positive materials is about reinforcement, encouragement, and learning. All three of these components are needed for greater confidence.
3. See your future success. Olympic athletes, corporate executives, and successful people in all sorts of endeavors visualize future success. Confidence will grow when we see ourselves succeeding. Think about it, if you know you will succeed, your confidence will soar, right? Visualizing future success does that very thing for us. Our minds cannot tell the difference between something real and something vividly imagined. So vividly visualize your success. What will it look like, smell like, and taste like to have succeeded? Who will be with you, what will you be hearing and where will you be? How will you be feeling at that moment? Putting this much detail into your vivid picture improves the likelihood of success, and supports greater confidence!
4. Reframe failure. Thomas Edison spent a long time trying to create an incandescent light bulb – to create light from electricity. He is attributed with saying, “I have not failed, I have discovered twelve hundred materials that don’t work.” 1,200! Perhaps you feel you can reframe your failures as learning experiences – as a chance to find out what doesn’t work. But would you be able to do so 1,200 times? Know that failures will occur - and your confidence won’t be as shaken when they come. Use the failures as an opportunity to learn. Realize that every failure puts you that much closer to success. When we reframe our failure as a learning experience we reduce our fear and increase our confidence.
5. Take confident action. You wanted confidence to help you try and succeed in new ways, right? So get out there and get at it! You have to put your confidence to the test. You have to practice. And, while you are taking action, make it confident action! Remember that if you act confident, you will be more confident. Review the other steps you have been taking to build your confidence. If you are driving towards your new action step, remind yourself of past successes, again. Visualize the successful outcome, again. Build your confidence at every step of the way, but remember it all must lead to action.
These steps are a regimen for strengthening and building your confidence in any life situation. Use these steps and I am confident, you will be more confident.

I've seen this in a book somewhere, and I think the book gave only one solution. You might want to try it.
Solution: I found this solution by hand: 1+2+3-4+5+6+78+9, and my computer (with the standard computer rules of precendence, like 1/2*34 is 17) found all of these solutions:

I send out a daily brainteaser to my group here at work and one of my co-workers came up with a new solution to your 123456789=100 puzzle. Just thought you'd like to know. 1 * 2 + 3 * 4 * 5 + 6 - 7 - 8 + 9 = 100!1*2+3*4*5+6-7-8+9 does not come out to 100, if it is viewed as a mathematical expression, because multiplication (or division) has precedence over addition or subtraction. We do the multiplication first, and then the addition and/or subtraction last. We mainly see this in algebra [where a+bc is a+(bc) and not (a+b)c] and in computer programming in BASIC and other languages (there are also languages with different kinds of precedence).
But this sequence of numbers and operations can also be viewed as a sequence of calculator key strokes, performed absolutely left to right, in which case it does come out to 100 (but not on my two scientific calculators). Most of my solutions above do not come out to 100 if done left to right. In my view, 1*2+3*4*5+6-7-8+9 does not indicate key strokes, but is a mathematical expression, and it requires a pair of parentheses to come out right: (1*2+3)*4*5+6-7-8+9 = 100.
With that warning about precedence, some people may still find some of my solutions confusing, like 1/2*3/4*56+7+8*9. Since multiplication and division have the same precedence, we evaluate them left to right, and so there is no problem. But some people may see the 2*3 as being a denominator. Similarly, with 1/2/3*456+7+8+9, some people may see the 2/3 as a denominator. But the most common standard is to do these divisions left to right.
A woman sent me this puzzle: _/_*_+_*_*_/_+_*_ = 100. Fill in the blanks with the digits 1 through 9 in any order. From the way it was described to me, ignore the rules of operator precedence, and just perform the operations from left to right. Thus, this works on the simplest of calculators, but will probably fail on some scientific calculators (unless you press = or ENTER after each digit). There are, of course, 362,880 ways to arrange these nine digits, and here are the 199 solutions:

I reported the above solutions to the above-mentioned woman, and she informed me that the rules of operator precendence DO apply to this puzzle, and then she became somewhat insulting (as seems to happen a lot on the Internet). Here are the 192 solutions, in that case, which I did not send to her:

1. Pick a number, add 2, multiply by 3, subtract 6, divide by 3. You get the number you started with.This works for other, larger numbers. I started with add 2 and multiply 3. But any two numbers work, just multiply them together to get the next number that you subtract.
2. Pick a number, square it (probably need a calculator for big numbers), add twice the original number, add one, take the square root (rounding it to the nearest whole number, 7.999... becomes 8), subtract 1, you get the number you started with. I made that one up.These can be made into number guessing games. In the first one, don't have them divide by three at the end. Just have them tell you the answer and you can guess the original number by dividing by three. In that case, you may want many more steps, in order to make it more impressive and so they won't think that you just did the same arithmetic that they did, but backwards. Here is something like that:

Pick a number, multiply by 5, add 6, multiply by 4, add 9, multiply by 5, tell me the number you got there, I then tell you your original number.Or you can make the steps come out to the same number every time. Here is an improved version of that second one. Just say, "I'll bet your answer is on this piece of paper" which you wrote the answer 5 on already:

5. Here's a more complicated one from Brain Boosters: Pick number between 1 and 100, add 28, multiply by 6, subtract 3, divide by 3, subtract the original number plus 3, add 8, subtract the original number minus 1, multiply by 7. Your answer was 427.
6. Use a calculator for this one: Pick a number 1 through 9, multiply by 12345679 (notice there is no 8 there), multiply by 9. Do you see your original number?I added 5 instead of subtracting 5. And the original limited the original number to 1 through 9, which is unnecessary. Some people might pick Dominican Republic, or an even more exotic country, or a more exotic animal.

8. Pick a 3-digit number in which the first and last digits differ by more than one, reverse this number (531 becomes 135) and subtract the smaller from the larger, add this number to the reverse of itself. I'll bet your answer is 1089.
9. I received this in my email (I modified it slightly): Pick a number (one to three digits probably), add 5, multiply by 3, square this number, add the digits over and over until you get only one digit (i.e. 64=6+4=10=1+0=1), if the number is less than 5 then add five otherwise subtract 4, multiply by 2, subtract 6, use this number to select a letter of the alphabet 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, etc., pick the name of a country that begins with that letter, take the second letter in the country name and think of an animal that begins with that letter, but there are no elephants in Denmark!
10. Here is collection of seven cards which you may have seen (the numbers on the cards often go up to 127 or so):See Super Brain.
Pick a number from 1 to 100. I then show you each card, one at a time, and ask, "Is your number on this card?" After I have shown you all seven cards, I then tell you your number. Other collections of cards also work, but are less efficient (require more cards for 1-100).
How they work:

Here is our number (pretend that x>z): 100x+10y+z. We reverse and subtract: 100(x-z-1)+90+(10-x+z). The reverse of this is 100(10-x+z)+90+(x-z-1). Adding, we get 1089.

I received this in my email (I modified it slightly): Pick a number (one to three digits probably), add 5, multiply by 3, square this number, add the digits over and over until you get only one digit (i.e. 64=6+4=10=1+0=1), if the number is less than 5 then add five otherwise subtract 4, multiply by 2, subtract 6, use this number to select a letter of the alphabet 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, etc., pick the name of a country that begins with that letter, take the second letter in the country name and think of an animal that begins with that letter, but there are no elephants in Denmark!This looks a little mysterious, until we see that we multiplied by 3 and then squared, so after squaring we have a multiple of 9, and we don't care what it is. Adding the digits over and over is called Casting Out Nines. Since our number is a multiple of 9, repeated adding of the digits should give us 9 (or 0). Subtract 4, multiply by 2, subtract 6 gives us 4, which maps with D. We are likely to guess Denmark, and elephant.
10. Here is collection of seven cards which you may have seen (the numbers on the cards often go up to 127 or so):This is just a translation of your secret number to or from binary (base-2) form. If your number is on the seventh card, I notice that that card has a 64 in the upper left corner, and I remember that 64 (otherwise I remember 0). If your number is on the sixth card, I add 32 to the previous number, etc. Let's say your number was 37. It's not on the seventh card, it is on the sixth (total = 32). It is on the third card (total=36), and it is on the first card (total=37). Your number is 37. So, why did that work? Well, the seventh card lists all numbers from 1 to 100 in which the seventh binary digit (64) is 1. The sixth card lists all numbers in which the sixth binary digit (32) is 1, etc. Adding up these numbers (32+4+1 in the case of 37) is exactly how we convert from binary to decimal.
Pick a number from 1 to 100. I then show you each card, one at a time, and ask, "Is your number on this card?" After I have shown you all seven cards, I then tell you your number. Other collections of cards also work, but are less efficient (require more cards for 1-100).
